Planning for Future: Lasers in Dentistry
Dr. Ahmed Adel AbdelHakim Gomaa, PhD in Prosthodontics – Egypt
CME: 5.5 by Dubai Health Authority
The use of lasers is widely accepted and in the standard of care in ophthalmology, dermatology, and many other medical specialties. Dentistry also should embrace laser technology, a proven method to treat patients safely and effectively with excellent results.
This presentation will discuss the use and benefits of lasers in treatment planning and delivery of different procedures, as well as the efficiency and efficacy of these laser-assisted procedures.
Laser energy requires some procedures to be performed much differently than with conventional instrumentation, but the indications for laser use continue to expand and further benefit. Dentists using lasers must know their scientific basis and tissue effects and must have appropriate clinical experience. The clinician should be able to choose the proper laser wavelength(s) for the intended clinical application. Although the types of tissue interaction overlap somewhat, each wavelength has specific qualities that will accomplish a specific treatment objective.
- Core knowledge on the safe clinical applications of dental lasers.
- Update clinical knowledge on the latest research in laser dentistry.
- Learn correct usage of all clinical relevant indications of the 445, 660 and 970 nm wavelengths.
- Standardized treatment protocols for the different treatment indications.
