Abstract:

Preformed flexible esthetic crowns are world’s first flexible durable esthetic pre formed pediatric crowns. They offer properties like easy of placement as stainless-steel crowns and esthetics of zirconia crowns.
Premature loss of primary teeth can lead to undesirable tooth movements resulting in space loss in the permanent dentition requiring space maintainers. Prefabricated space maintainers require only one appointment, no impressions, and do not require laboratory work; thus, they need less time and cost.
The lecture will have details of the design, technique and clinical cases followed by video demonstration and hands on of the technique of Preformed flexible esthetic crowns and pre-formed space maintainers.

Introduction:

The biggest challenge in Paediatric dentistry is managing child’s behavior and fulfilling parent’s expectations. To overcome such challenges, we need faster techniques and life like restorations. This workshop will allow you to introduce two new techniques in pediatric dentistry. Both techniques are easy to do, durable and faster than conventional techniques.
Preformed flexible esthetic crowns are pediatric crowns which offer properties of both stainless-steel crowns and zirconia crowns. They can be easily placed and are natural looking like primary teeth. There are self-adaptable to the occlusal forces with good abrasion resistance and load bearing capacity. They can be trimmed and adjusted according to the tooth to be crowned. Preformed flexible crowns are a smart solution for a pediatric dentist for a life like long lasting full coverage restoration.
Space maintainers can be used for this purpose. A laboratory space maintainer works very well, but has several disadvantages:

  • It requires a second appointment.
  • It increases the overhead cost to the dentist.
  • It is sometimes challenging to obtain a good impression

By contrast, chairside space maintainers are very simple to fabricate, cost-effective, one-visit procedures that are generally uncomplicated, and trouble-free.

Learning Objectives:

  • To evaluate and diagnose a case of space maintainers and full coverage restorations
  • To explain the newer dental materials and techniques in paediatric dentistry
  • To compare and critically evaluate customized and readymade technique of space maintainers
  • To master the technique of Preformed esthetic crowns and preformed space maintainers (Distal Shoe, Band and Loop space maintainers)
  • To discuss clinical problems faced while doing a space maintainer and pediatric crowns

Abstract:

Writing a scientific paper for publication in a peer-reviewed journal can be a rewarding experience but a very difficult undertaking that requires years of experience, determination, and patience. What adds to the difficulty nowadays is the mounting pressure in our profession to rapidly and continually publish academic work to sustain or further our careers. The rise of knowledge has resulted in the rise of manuscripts submitted for publication in the various peer-reviewed journals globally. Potential authors are not only having to write high-quality papers to get published, but also must compete with other authors for the limited journal space available to publish their papers. As a section editor of Elsevier’s British Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (BJOMS) – The most common question I get asked is: “how do I get my paper published?”.

Introduction:

The editor’s aim is to publish interesting papers on important clinical and research topics that are relevant to oral and maxillofacial surgery. The editor also wants the submitted paper to bring praise to the journal i.e., footprint and citations, and wants people to want to read it – so it must be both scholarly and distinctive. Finally, it should be easy to read and have what is known as a “house style”. If people are to rely on what is published in the journal it must have a consistent, high standard both of content and presentation – and it is to the latter that I draw your attention to in this short course.

Learning objectives:

  1. Be familiar with the mechanisms of producing scientific publications.
  2. Understand the process of getting published from concept to final print.
  3. Be able to describe and debate the different forms of peer review and performance indicators.
  4. Critique manuscripts and published papers.
  5. Design the “ideal” submission and follow the process through which such a manuscript would be published

Abstract:

The presentation discusses the basics of smile analysis, planning a case of indirect Veneers and understanding the importance of Index fabrications and proper guided preparation. The treatment of esthetic areas has received a great deal of attention since the turn of the century. The constant search for a natural, harmonious, and pleasant smile clearly reflects the fact that there are more-demanding and better-informed patients. An accurate knowledge of facial topography and the dynamics of how the patient performs their basic oral functions – such as speaking, swallowing, and chewing – is essential and must form the basis of any analysis of intraoral aspects. Several groups around the world have developed laboratory and clinical protocols in order to predict, with a high degree of accuracy, what the result of treatment will be for the patient (i.e. for completely edentulous patients or those who will receive porcelain cemented restorations on natural teeth). The presentation discusses strategies of how to relate appropriately facial and intraoral aspects.

The use of images/ photography in which the patient exhibits lips parted in a resting position is essential for determining the best length and exposure of upper incisors at the end of treatment. The use of facial photographs allows a better identification of potential discrepancies associated with esthetic sites. Soft-tissue esthetics represents a constant challenge for the clinician, and its accomplishment requires a differentiated preoperative individualized treatment plan, followed by a meticulous execution of each of the proposed steps in order to limit potential errors.

Abstract:

The power of platelet regeneration gained remarkable attention across the scientific literature, and the media due to the regeneration capabilities of the platelet concentrates. This lecture aims to assimilate current evidence on the role of platelet derivatives regeneration impact, particularly in implant dentistry, by integrating interesting and current studies. The lecture is composed of; Firstly, review critical aspects of platelet biology and function. Secondly, critically discuss the clinical factors affecting platelet derivatives preparation that may account for the significant inconsistency in outcomes from different studies. Thirdly, familiarization with the platelet derivatives classification and the need for standardization. Finally, clinical hands-on.

Introduction:

Tissue loss intraorally often means both functionally and aesthetic damages; various techniques have been used and improved over time to restore the damaged tissue. The platelet concentrates are derived from patients’ centrifuged blood and named according to their biological characteristics, such as PRP, PRGF, PRF, CGF. Over the years, numerous published papers with many different preparation protocols misinterpreted the centrifugal components. The misrepresenting centrifugal characteristic factors confused and dismissed dentists from using the platelet concentrates to their optimal level for soft tissue and hard tissue engineering. The lecture reviews critical aspects of platelet biology and function, the clinical factors affecting platelets derivatives qualities, shedding off the confusion about the platelet preparation protocols and the platelet concentrates clinical applications. Moreover, most importantly, the need to regulate and standardize biological therapies. Finally, the PRGF workshop.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the foundation of platelet biology
