Prof. Omar Kujan is Professor and Discipline Lead of Oral Pathology at the UWA Dental School, The University of Western Australia. He is an AHPRA-registered specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology in Australia and New Zealand, with extensive expertise in Oral Diseases. He leads specialist Oral Medicine clinics, providing multidisciplinary care for patients with oral potentially malignant disorders, immune-mediated oral conditions, salivary gland disorders, orofacial pain, and other mucosal disorders, while supervising specialist registrars and postgraduate trainees. An internationally recognized clinician-scientist, Professor Kujan has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers, attracting more than 10,000 citations (h-index 43). His pioneering work includes developing three-dimensional models of oral carcinogenesis, advancing liquid-based cytology for oral cancer detection, establishing a customized Bethesda reporting system for oral brush cytology, and leading the WHO-endorsed binary grading system for oral epithelial dysplasia. He contributed to the 2022 WHO Classification of Head and Neck Tumors and holds a leadership role in the WONDER World Workshop on Oral Medicine. Dr. Luiz Alcino Monteiro Gueiros is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil, and a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 2). He coordinates the Oral Medicine Unit at the Hospital das Clínicas/UFPE, providing clinical care for hospitalized patients with oral disease, and holds faculty appointments in the graduate programs at UFPE and the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He earned his PhD in Oral Pathology and Medicine from UNICAMP, a master's degree from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), and specialist training in Oral Medicine at UFPE. His research centres on oral medicine and cancer supportive care, salivary gland dysfunction and Sjögren's syndrome, autoimmune rheumatic diseases, and cancer supportive care — including oral mucositis, xerostomia, and photobiomodulation. He collaborates with international organizations including MASCC, the World Workshop on Oral Medicine, and the World Association for Photobiomodulation Therapy (WALT), where he serves as Brazilian Delegate to the Board. Dr Salvatore Sauro is currently a professor (Titular ANECA) in dental biomaterials at the “Departamento de Odontología, Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud, Universidad CEU-Cardenal Herrera”, coordinator of the "Dental Research" and Director (Principal Investigator) of the research group "In Situ Dental Tissues Engineering and Minimally Invasive Therapeutic Adhesive Rehabilitation". He obtained his PhD in "Dental Biomaterials Research Pre-Clinical Dentistry" at King's College London Dental Institute, where he continued his scientific work as a postdoctoral fellow and then as a research associate in "Adhesive Dentistry and Dental Bioactive Materials Research." Dr. Sauro has been working in research on dental biomaterials, preventive and minimally invasive dentistry research for more than 15 years (Scopus: H-Index: 49) and he has published, in collaboration with internationally renowned researchers, more than 200 articles in international peer-review journals with high impact factor in the dentistry and dental materials field, along with more several research abstracts and lectures in international conferences. He has contributed to dental materials science with new research findings on dentine bonding systems, the remineralisation of the resin-dentine interface, and the enzymatic degradation of dentine collagen. Dr Sauro has three patents so far; he was involved in 3 research grants, including 1 as PI.
