Ms. Wedad Aljneibi is an Emirati dental hygienist, healthcare leader, and health professions educator with experience across clinical practice, professional leadership, education, Health Systems Science (HSS), special needs and inclusive care. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and a Master of Leadership in Health Professions Education. She serves as President of the Emirates Dental Hygienists Club, contributing to the advancement of the profession through scientific education, professional development, and initiatives supporting the evolving scope of dental hygiene practice in the UAE. Among her key contributions are the development and implementation of the first local anaesthesia course for dental hygienists in the UAE, as well as educational initiatives focused on special needs and inclusive healthcare. Wedad has also contributed to Health Systems Science education and curriculum development, with a focus on patient safety, teamwork, communication, and systems-based healthcare. In 2026, she became the first Emirati dental hygienist to deliver a scientific lecture as an international speaker at the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene in Milan, Italy, representing the UAE on an international scientific platform. Prof. Dianne L. Sefo, RDH, MEd, FNYAM, FADHA, is Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Global Engagement at NYU College of Dentistry’s Center for Oral Health Policy & Management, formerly chairing the Department of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting. An international speaker, researcher, published author, and peer reviewer, she co-invented the patented “Haptodont” virtual reality simulator. With her scholarship focused on advanced periodontal instrumentation, educational technology, and oral-systemic health, her contributions have earned her NYU Dentistry’s Excellence in Education Innovation Award and fellowships in the New York Academy of Medicine, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, and NYU’s Academy of Distinguished Educators. Dr. Purnima Kumar is the Chair of the Department of Periodontology, Oral Medicine and Dental Hygiene at the University of Michigan. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement for the Sciences (AAAS), Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM), the International College of Dentists and the American Association of Oral, Dental and Craniofacial Research. She is the Associate Editor of Periodontology 2000, Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Senior Editor of Microbiome. She is an active researcher, clinician, teacher, and administrator, has mentored several pre-dental, dental, master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral students and junior faculty colleagues, and has served on several grant review panels for the NIH. She serves on the budget committee and science strategy committee of the AAP. She completed her term as the Chair of the Continuing Education Oversight Committee for the AAP, Chair of the Council of Scientific Affairs of the ADA in 2024 and President of the Periodontal Research Group.
